This is an easy one for us – none.
There has been a lot of press recently discussing the amount of water that data centres waste around the world. Unfortunately, most of these figures are pure speculation & completely inaccurate.
It is true that a few facilities have systems that inject moisture into fresh air as it enters their data centres to reduce the temperature. These are called adiabatic systems & although they use slightly less energy and therefore claim to be efficient, they do come at the cost of wasting a lot of water.
Our facilities at Vinters Connect use multiple closed loop systems, which means that the fluid inside is continually re-circulated so that no water is consumed or wasted.
This is the case for most data centres around the world. The systems are closed loop because they give much more control over the environment in the data centre. A little more energy is used but the facility doesn’t have to filter the air, risk particle contamination or as mentioned, waste any water.
And we ask all of our staff to turn off the tap whilst they’re brushing their teeth 🙂
