Most facilities carry 24 to 48 hours of diesel on site and rely on priority refuelling contracts to top up before things get critical. In normal times that’s perfectly reasonable. Power cuts are usually short and fuel supply chains are reliable.
Right now, normal times feel like a slightly optimistic assumption.
We have 30,000 litres of fuel on site in Maidstone. Enough to keep our data centres running as normal for over a month. We have have seamless UPS switchover so client equipment never feels a thing when mains power drops, and yes, we have the priority refuelling contracts too. Just in case.
It’s the kind of thing that probably won’t matter, we hope.
